WC3Mod Help Empty Re: WC3Mod Help

Post  Cloud Sun Mar 08, 2009 2:57 pm

For all those already advanced in the WC3FT this mod guide is NOT for you.

This guide teaches the players new to the WC3FT mod how to play and approach certain situations.

    What is the WC3FT Mod?
The mod incorporates races from the game Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne into amx mod and is then placed into a cs server. The player will have a choice of 4 races and 5 heroes to choose from. Each race/hero has its weaknesses and strengths over other races/heroes. There is no race that is head and shoulders above the rest. Although at times it may seem that way the player itself is all the difference. The player in the mod games experience points by completing mission objectives, eliminating enemies and just being a part of the winning team. These point in turn earn skills and powers which can be used as they are mastered.

    Important things before we begin
When playing the mod there are a few things you need to know. Binds is a vital part in WC3FT. Binds that are a MUST:

    - bind <key> shopmenu (this is vital to get items that may protect or give an attacking advantage)
    - bind <key> shopmenu2 (this is vital to get items that may protect or give an attacking advantage)

During the game you can carry 2 items at a time ONE from each shopmenu (shopmenu and shopmenu2). To get a new item just buy it and the other will simple be erased)

    - bind <key> ultimate (the races/heros special power)
    - bind <key> ability (used for race/heros abilities however only applicable when neccesary

    - bind <key> war3menu (the main menu of this mod)
    - bind <key> changerace (used for changing races, can also be found in the war3menu)

    Items
In game to find out what the items do type the following:

    - /itemsinfo (shopmenu one info)
    - /itemsinfo2 (shopmenu2 one info)

Below is a more detailed explanation of all items:

    Shopmenu:

    * Anhk of Reincarnation - When bought and you happen to die you will spawn with the same equipment you had the previous round (There are variables involved. Some servers will set to only give back primary while others will give back everything)
    * Boots of Speed - Makes you run faster
    * Claws of Attack - This is basically again variable and adds a certain amount of damage to each attack (default is 6)
    * Cloak of Shadows - Makes you invisible and will increase when a knife is held. Please note when you are hit you will appear
    * Mask of Death - With each successful hit you will gain health
    * Necklace of Immunity - Makes you immune to any ultimate attacks or abilities
    * Orb of Frost - Chance of freezing the enemy on the spot with each successful attack
    * Periapt of Health - Gives extra health (this is variable most of the time between 15-25)
    * Tome of Experience - Gives a set amount of experience (beware it is very expensive)

    Shopmenu2

    * Scroll of Respawning - When bought and you have died you will be immediately respawned (With all equipment. Note this wont work if you’re the last man on your team but will work if the bomb was planted and the round has not ended)
    * Mole Protectant - Any mole who attempts to hit you will miss (Unless they hit you in the head)
    * Amulet of the Cat - You are silent running and going up and down ladders etc. (Jumping will cause noise)
    * Wand of Illusion - Creates 2 clones around that float in the air
    * Helm of Excellence - Immune to headshots (It will work 99% of the time and the other 1% will fail. Also rumoured NOT to work if it’s a kill shot (But this may only be rumours)
    * Flaming Gloves of Warmth - Gives a HE-grenade every X seconds (X is set by server, default is 10)
    * Ring of Regeneration +1 - Gives 1 hit point every 2 seconds (You can have a max of 5 rings, just type rings to get more)
    * Chameleon - You look like the enemy
    * Mole - When bought and you have died the next round you will spawn in the opposing teams spawn with a chameleon (Expensive and it’s very glitchy)

    Item Combo
People have theories on different combos and the main combos of items you will encounter are:

    - Necklace of Immunity and Helm of Excellence
    - Necklace of Immunity and Amulet of the Cat
    - Boots of Speed and Flaming Gloves of Warmth (orc)

Just experiment with what you want though recommended for newbies is this combo: Necklace of Immunity and Helm of Excellence

    Basics
When you begin you will be given the choice of CT or T (that hasn't changed). Once selected and a new round begins you will be given the option of choosing a race or hero. In WC3FT gaining experience points helps to gain levels and gaining levels allows the players to gain abilities and ultimates.

    Levels and Experience
All races/heroes go to level 10 and how much XP is gained is completely dependent on how the server chooses to set it. However to reach level 10 you must have a total of 51200 experience points. Underneath shows the levels and the experience needed to gain that level.

    Level 1 - 100
    Level 2 - 200
    Level 3 - 400
    Level 4 - 800
    Level 5 - 1600
    Level 6 - 3200
    Level 7 - 6400
    Level 8 - 12800
    Level 9 - 25600
    Level 10 - 51200

With every level you gain you are given one skill point. This means you can learn a new ability or level a one you have already got. Once you reach level 6 the ultimate then becomes unlocked and you can then use the specific racial/heroic ultimate.

Learning a Race or Learning to Defeat One
As I said before there is no race that stands head and shoulders above the rest. When beginning to play WC3FT I suggest you stick to one race at a time to familiarise with it. You must learn the capabilities of not only your own race but also the other. For example the speed of an undead can combat a normal paced human. However a human with additional health may survive longer. But an undead may use the extra health to his own advantage healthing himself as the battles goes on. It is important though not vital to know what your enemies are using. Not only will it help you to combat them but know their moves. Such as a human who teleports. If you can predict that they are going to teleport they are most likely to go behind you so you should be able to pick them off.

    Race/Hero Maintenance
There are times in the game where a newbie will ask how to change a race or how do I rechoose my skills.
This all can be done through the war3menu
Just type war3menu and navigate through. Or you can using commands such as:

    - /changerace - speaks for itself really change a race or hero
    - /skillsinfo - gives you info of the skills your race has
    - /resetskills - this basically means you rechoose your skills not reset your experience

You can also RESET your xp however this is not advisable for newbies to do. Who would want to reset after all that work?

WC3FT is not like normal cs. How you go in WC3 does not reflect how you play in normal circumstances.

Learn the Items and their Owners
Here is a classic example of why wc3 is not like normal cs. Unlike normal cs guns come second. Items are a must. Personally and most people will agree they would rather get a necklace and helmet rather then a colt with nothing else. Why? The chance of getting killed by a shot to the head is minimal. You want to outsmart your opponent if you are outgunned.

As a player learn the combos others will use. If you know a person has a helm aim for the chest otherwise you will probably be on the receiving end of a flogging.

    Wrap up
WC3FT is an advanced game. It helps if you have had some cs experience but none the less it can be hard to start the game as a newbie. This is NOT recommendable AT ALL but as a newbie it is better if you are on a winning team not only to gain experience but also learn from the senior players. This is not to see players stacking on spectate mode in the hope of getting into the winning teams but if you are just starting WC3FT for the very first time to at least be on the winning team every now and then.

Also don't call people hacking in the servers. Not only is there a good reason for all the weird stuff that goes on in there but it’s just stupid to cry over spilled milk.
